Great Blue Ventures, founded by Brian Mitchell, blends the corporate consulting world with a personal brand that reflects his love for the outdoors. Brian has extensive experience in Total Rewards leadership, having led benefits strategy at major organizations like AdventHealth and McKee Foods. He wanted a brand identity that seamlessly fuses his strategic consulting services with his personal passion for the outdoors.
Our goal was to create a brand identity and website for Brian that balanced the professional, corporate world with his personal interest in nature. We needed to create something that felt approachable but still positioned Brian as a competent, experienced consultant.
The hardest part of this project was achieving the perfect balance between corporate professionalism and a sense of freedom and exploration. We needed to incorporate the adventurous spirit Brian wanted while maintaining a look that would resonate with corporate clients. The branding also needed to avoid looking overly outdoorsy while reflecting Brian’s personality and expertise.
We developed a clean, abstract icon of the great blue heron, an elegant nod to Brian’s love of nature. The rounded serif font strikes the balance between approachable and professional, with a touch of playful personality. The color palette was inspired by coastal tones, keeping the brand grounded and neutral in terms of cost perception but still leaning slightly premium.
We also built a website that serves as a platform for Brian to share his decades of experience and connect with potential clients. The site includes a blog where he can publish his insights, further establishing him as a thought leader in his field.
Brian now has a personal brand and consulting business that truly reflects who he is. His website allows him to showcase his expertise and personality, and his brand identity perfectly bridges the gap between corporate formality and the freedom of the outdoors. The site has become an outlet for him to share his knowledge and attract new clients through both his blog and social media.
